Juan was born and raised in Costa Rica and has many years experience with the different types of fishing in Costa Rica. As a youngster growing up in Costa Rica Juan has fished just about the entire region of Southern Costa Rica. Now as a young man of 25 Juan is Captain Mark's 1rst mate and a very good one at that. It was over 10 years ago when Captain Mark met Juan and put him to work catching bait and cleaning the boat as a teenager of 15. After some years of training by Captain Mark, Juan is now full time 1rst Mate for Southern Costa Rica Sportfishing and has been Captain Mark's personal 1rst Mate for over 5 years steady. Captain Mark taught Juan all his fishing methods and tactics so they pretty much think alike on the boat which is why they make such a spectacular sportfishing team. On his off days Juan spends his time free diving in the crystal clear blue waters off Costa Rica. He also spends some of his tip money buying lures and other tackle because he is so into fishing, he is what you would call an avid fishing enthusiast. Also Juan knows all aspects of Costa Rica navigation and other boat safety in case of an emergency which is a great quality in a 1rst Mate.

Costa Rica Fishing Family Family - In 2003 there was an addition to the Corn family... Lee Fonseca Corn... Mark's son. He is a cute little boy, just about four years old now and has already been out many times on the boats. He loves it and we will not be surprised if he follows in Mark's footsteps, as he gets older. Little Lee already loves to fish and already is helping dad catch bait early in the morinings before anglers arrive to the boat. Lee got his first boat ride from the hospital across the bay as a 22 hour old new born and I'd say not to many kids can claim that feat unless they were born on a boat.
